Notes:WILLS and BEQUESTS. - The will (with four codicils) of Lieutenant-General Sir Robert John Harvey, of Mousehold House, near Norwich, was proved in London on 21st February last, by the executors, Samuel Twining and Roger Allday Kerrison, Esqrs., to each of whom he leaves a legacy of £100, and an annuity of £20 for their trouble and kindness in accepting the trusts of the will. He leaves to Lady Harvey the use of the house and furniture at Mousehold for her life without any other pecuniary advantage, in consequence of being otherwise provided for in her own right, and of being entitled to a pension from Government as the widow of a general officer. At her death the use of the house at Mousehold is left to his eldest son, Robert John Harvey, for his life. His two presentation swords, presentation and family plate, and his oil paintings, are made heir looms to be enjoyed with the said residence. He directs the rents of his estates to be invested for five years, or until £20,000 shall be raised; then to accumulate at compound interest for sixteen years further. Of this accumulated fund one-third is to fall into his residuary estate, one-third to the children of his third son Edward Kerrison Harvey. And he leaves a life interest in £30,000 to his son Edward Kerrison Harvey, and the principal to the sons of the said son, and he bequeaths £1000 each to Frances and Mary, daughters of the said Edward. At the expiration of five years after his decease he leaves a life interest in his landed estates to his son Robert John Harvey Harvey, Esq. Then to his grandson, Robert Lambert Sutton Harvey, for his life in tail male, and in default of issue, in succession to the sons of his other sons, John and Edward, with future succession. The testator considers that his son Robert John Harvey Harvey being entitled to a life estate or some other interest in certain manors and estates at Tharston and Forncett and also at Watton, Saham and Ovington, and the testator having made a provision for him as a partner in the bank, and also a further provision on the occasion of his marriage, that those several provisions and that made for him and his children by this will will be amply sufficient. To Miss Montague (his children's governess) he leaves an annuity of £100, and makes her guardian of his widow and his son John, who had both fallen into an infirm state of health. To his tenants he leaves each a year's rent, if not exceeding £12, and to his servants and clerks he leaves several small annuities or legacies, and to John Henry Druery and annuity of £100, in consideration of his eminent services to the bank of Harveys and Hudsons several years ago, by means of which the loss of large sums had been prevented. He gives authority to his trustees at any time within six months of his decease, at the request of Robert John Harvey Harvey, to lend to the bank of Messrs. Harveys and Hudson the sum of £40,000 upon the security of the joint and several bond of the partners constituting the said firm, payable with interest after the rate of five pounds per cent. per annum. to be repaid by installments of £5000 every twelve months, until £20,000 be paid, and the remaining £20,000 to be repaid at the end of the five years from the date of the bond. The income arising from the residuary estate subject to some provisions to other members of the family is left to Edward Kerrison Harvey for his life, then the whole to be turned into money and invested in lands in Great Britain, which are to follow the conditions of the trusts of the entailed estate. The personality is sworn under £350,000. The will is dated the 22nd of January, 1852, and the last codicil the 7th of April, 1860. The testator died on the 18th of June, 1860.
